Scrapbooking has been wildly popular over the last decade and remains so. A great affinity event could be a "Crop" -- where many scrappers gather to share tools, supplies and ideas and work on their memory books. Some are all day events with lunch and/or dinner included.
Christian scrapbookers invite their unchurched scrapbooking friends and pay their entry fee. As usual at a crop people work on the scrapbooks, receive instruction from the scrapbook consultant and at some point during the crop the speaker gives a creative gospel presentation crafted using themes from scrapbooking and/or preserving memories. Crops can be 20 to 200+ people.
Many crops are hosted by Creative Memories (or other company's) consultants who have some degree of training, level of expertise and usually have supplies on hand to sell and a wide array of tools to share. HOWEVER, the event doesn't have to be hosted by a consultant. There are plenty of non-professional consumers doing this that are really skilled with a significant investment in tools.
